Dave Matthews Band, Kings of Leon, Weezer and Jay-Z are just some of the major acts appearing at this year's Bonnaroo Festival, one of the most anticipated music festivals.
Also performing at the June 10-13 event in a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tenn. are Stevie Wonder, Tenacious D and The Flaming Lips performing Dark Side of the Moon.
Now on its eighth year, Bonnaroo is just as known for its star power as it is for its greening and activism efforts. This year, the festival will continue its tradition of eco-action with the Solar Stage. A solar-powered stage, it will feature an eclectic schedule of music, dance,
environmental speakers and interactive entertainment. With Rock the Earth, StopGlobalWarming.org and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), the festival will be hosting panels featuring artists, scientists and
activists discussing social change through music, with a focus on
global warming.
The Bonnaroo 'Carbon Shredders' are also back this year, and aim to set a new footprint goal. Comprised of reprsentatives from Vermont's Green Mountain Coffee
Roasters, Seventh Generation, dealer.com and Gardener's Supply, the Shredders return to engage
the Bonnaroo community in reducing their carbon footprint over the next
year.
