Arguing with a Global Warming Denier? There's An App for That

John Platt, February 11, 2011

Did you ever get into an argument with a global warming denier and wish you had all of the evidence you need to refute his beliefs at the tip of your fingers? Now you can, with the Skeptical Science iPhone app, free from the Skeptical Science website. The latest version of the app was released last week.

The app lets you use an iPhone or iPod to view the entire list of skeptic arguments against climate change, as well as what the actual science says on each argument, not just the spin you hear from all of their talking points memos.

The app presents you with the Top 10 most used arguments as well as 3 main categories: "It's not happening", "It's not us", "It's not bad." Each of the main categories also comes with several sub-categories. Once you find the argument you just heard about global warming, you can call up a summary of what the science actually says. If that's not enough, you can then get a more detailed answer, including graphs, plus links to papers or other sources.

Beyond that, there's a neat feature that lets you count every time you hear a specific argument. This information is only for you, but it can help you call up the same reports you've already searched for if the same argument comes up again.

By the way, all of this content is also available online, so don't need an iPhone to get the truth, just an Internet connection.

So don't let a global warming denier get your goat. Get the information you need to prove them wrong. Download the free Skeptical Science iPhone app here.
