When you buy a laptop, you also need to buy something to carry it in, right? Well, a lot of laptop sleeves are made out of a popular substance called neoprene, which contains all kinds of nasty, toxic chemicals.
A company called GreenSmart has come up with a better idea: a cleaner, greener alternative they have dubbed Neogreene. It is produced with 25% less petroleum than neoprene, and uses 25% less energy during the manufacturing process. Meanwhile, it does not contain phthalates, VOCs, chlorine, or the metals that are traditionally comprised in neoprene. Neogreene also uses a water-based adhesive, so toxic chemicals like toluene and dimethyl formaldehyde are nowhere to be found.
All that, and it's still waterproof. An eco-score!
You can purchase a Neogreene laptop sleeve from Green Home for $25-$40, depending on the size of your laptop. The sleeves are 4mm thick, so they provide optimal protection for your expensive electronics. Oh, and they come with a bare minimum of packaging materials, making them even greener!
Give it a try. And then let's see if we can get other companies using neoprene to switch to this greener alternative!
